The title of the piece is Weave One Heart. The inspiration came from a song by Marty Haugen that has the words "weave one heart from many strands". The warp is 180 different types of yarn. Some are the same type but a different color. It contains items as disparate as hand spun silk and cotton rickrack. There is ribbon, red heart acrylic, hand spun wool, and just about anything else that you might think of. |
Quite a bit of the warp was contributed by members of The Big Island Liturgy and Arts Center; the rest came from my stash. The weft on the top and bottom is hand spun silk. The weft for the heart is ribbon. The braid outlining the heart is a kumihimo flat braid made from 1mm rattail. |
