Warping the Fabric of Time: New ways of looking at an ancient technique
What is tablet weaving and how did it develop? This lecture will provide a short history of this ancient craft and how it has evolved over time. Contemporary tablet weavers have pushed the boundaries, creating new versions of traditional patterns and using tablet woven bands in fashionable ways. John Mullarkey shares his tablet weaving experiences and creations.
John Mullarkey is a nationally recognized teacher of tablet weaving and an award-winning fiber artist. He will be teaching tablet weaving workshops in Honolulu, April 4-6 and Hawai'i Island, April 11-13.
This event is free and open to the public. Please RSVP using the green "Register" button.
The workshops are sponsored by the Hawaii Handweavers’ Hui, a 501c3 non profit whose mission is to bring together and educate those interested in the fiber arts.
This program is supported in part by the State Foundation on Culture and Arts through appropriations from the Legislature of the State of Hawaii and by the National Endowment for the Arts.
