Join us for Basic Loom Weaving II with Jill Cohen and Jo Hittner

Practice your loom setup skills and techniques while you learn to vary your treadling thereby changing the pattern on your cloth!
This class is designed for those who would like to practice their skills setting up a multi-shaft loom.
Weavers will setup a 4-shaft table loom using one threading and produce two towels with distinctly different patterns. In this class you will learn how to calculate the warp needed for two dishtowels, wind a warp on the warping board, practice setting up a table loom and vary the design of your pattern as you weave. Students will design and weave 2 dishtowels to take home.
All materials and tools will be provided.

Instructor Bios:
Jill Cohen lives in Mt. View and has been weaving for more than ten years. She mainly weaves functional household items such as towels, placemats, napkins and runners with the occasional foray into wearables.
Hilo resident Jo Hittner has been weaving for more than 15 years. She prefers practical projects that can be sold or given as gifts. She enjoys learning new techniques that challenge her skills. Her background is teaching all age levels, from first graders to advanced university degrees. She is excited to be teaching weaving to people new to the hobby.

This class is open to adults, and minors ages 12-17 when accompanied by a parent or guardian. If you are interested in taking the class with your child, please register online and add your child as a guest. Those registering for a Hawai’i Handweavers’ Hui class may add one guest based on availability.
We require a minimum of three participants for each class. A full refund will be issued to those registered, if class is cancelled by Hawaiʻi Handweavers’ Hui. Refunds for class registration cancellation by participant will be issued in full only if the cancellation is made more than 14 days before the class begins.
